Sometimes transformation does not arrive with fireworks. Sometimes it looks exactly like an ordinary day. After years of measuring my life by grief, I expected release to feel dramatic. I imagined a clear moment when the past would loosen and everything would suddenly feel new. But healing can be quieter than suffering. The morning still arrives on a Tuesday. The shoes still need to be put on. The first step may feel no different from the step before it. The difference is not always in the world around us. It can be in the way we meet it: willing to notice sunlight, laughter, rain and the people still walking beside us. An ordinary day is not evidence that nothing changed. Sometimes it is the first day we stop demanding that change prove itself. I was waiting for fireworks. Life gave me another day.
